Preview Honda e: Ny1 New Prototype 2023 electric SUV

This is Honda’s motobike e: Ny1 Prototype – preview of a new vehicle launching next year that Honda says will be the ‘hub’ of its future lineup, highlighting the important role the production version will play in brand’s electrification strategy.

Finally, the e:Ny1 Prototype is all-electric, and it will be Honda’s second full-fledged EV in Europe, offering more space, versatility, and more capabilities than it would without the range. Honda e supermini. It will also be joined by an all-new C-segment hybrid SUV to sit in the middle HR VUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU and CR-VAT.

“Coming on the market in 2023, this new B-segment EV SUV will be at the heart of Honda’s future lineup,” said Honda Europe President Katsuhisa Okuda. “Offering the unique blend of dynamics, technology and design for which Honda is famous, this vehicle will provide a great option for families looking for their first electric vehicle.”

The brand has revealed images of the prototype car, which shows that it is, as expected, the European spec versions of the e:NP1 and e:NS1 SUVs revealed for China market. The styling of the car is based mainly on the e: concept SUV revealed by Honda in 2020 and the current generation HR-V. This car dominates the B-segment – so treat it as a new contender for the Vauxhall Mokka-e and Electric Hyundai Kona.

No technical basis for the new car has been revealed, but senior Honda figures have previously explained to Auto Express that the new car will be based on a tweaked version of the Honda e’s platform, built stretch to incorporate larger batteries for greater operating range.

And that is certainly what the Chinese version of the e:Ny1 specification suggests. The Chinese-made E:NS1 and e:NP1 use Honda’s e:N Architecture F chassis, an electric platform designed for compact electric vehicles with front-wheel-drive electric powertrains. The 68.8kWh battery is claimed to have a range of up to 311 miles on a single charge, despite being in line with Chinese market standards.

It is currently unknown if this will be the case with the e:Ny1, but we can almost certainly expect a better range than the Honda e supermini.

No interior shots have been revealed, but cars in the Chinese market use a large 15-inch vertical center screen on the dashboard as the centerpiece for controlling the car’s interior.

More information will be revealed about the e:Ny1 Prototype in the coming months.
