Pregnant Kerala Woman Carried To Hospital 3 Km Away In Makeshift Stretcher
Thiruvananthapuram:
A pregnant tribal woman in Kadukumanna village, Palakkad district of Kerala, is carried to the hospital by relatives on a makeshift stretcher.
According to sources, the pregnant woman, identified as Sumanthi Murukan, is consulting a doctor at Kottathara Tribal Specialty Hospital and is due to give birth next week.
But Sumathi went into labor on the alternate night of Saturday-Sunday. Relatives called an ambulance, but the vehicle could not reach the village due to damaged roads.
Sumathi’s relatives carried her on a makeshift stretcher and walked three and a half kilometers through the forest to the main road. From there, Sumathi was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Sumati gave birth to a baby boy shortly after arriving at the hospital.
