Predators sign Nino Niederreiter contract for two years, $8 million

The Nashville carnivores agreed to a two-year, $8 million contract with freelance agent Nino Niederreiter.

Niederreiter’s deal comes with a 4 million dollars AAV.

Last season with Hurricane Carolina, Nuremberg ended with 44 points (24 goals, 20 assists) in 75 regular season games. He scored 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 14 Playoff games at the Stanley Cup.

Niederreiter has been with the Hurricanes since 2019, sent to Carolina in a trade from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Victor Rask.

The 29-year-old has scored 137 points (69 goals, 68 assists) in 234 career games for the Hurricanes.

“Thank you, Carolina, the last 3.5 years I’ve spent Raleigh playing ahead of all the great Caniacs!” Niederreiter posted on his Instagram on Thursday. “I enjoyed every minute of being a hurricane and I will forever cherish the memories and friendships I had in Raleigh, the support from all of you Caniacs, and the staff and organization. Great job!”

Niederreiter was the 5th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 draft by the New York Islanders. After spending two seasons on Long Island, New York traded Niederreiter to Wild for third-round draft picks and Cal Clutterbuck.

A 20-goal five-timer, Niederreiter has averaged 20 goals and 22 assists per season during his 11-year career.

In 732 career NHL games for the Islanders, Wilds and Hurricanes, Niederreiter had 368 points (181 goals, 187 assists).
