Porsche 911 crashes into highway divider during alleged street race

The current rise of street racing is giving road rage incidents a good way to cash in on the trend of highway running dramatically fueled by the pandemic. A recent reported street racing incident saw a Porsche 911 driver lose control on a Florida interstate, narrowly avoiding a helpless driver and placing the car’s front bumper. their German sport into the concrete divider. A dash cam on the car was almost cut off, capturing much of the incident.

The incident happened on Interstate 4 in Florida on Wednesday afternoon, around 5:30 p.m. KST. The scene begins with a silver Porsche 911 quickly cutting across the front of the camera. The Porsche then attached the fishtail to the inner shoulder and turn into the middle lane. The silver 911 was pointed in the direction of traffic and appeared to back up before slamming into the center divider.

You can hear the driver say: “Damn it” as he stops in front of the crumpled Porsche front bumper. Adam AbrahamThe driver of a car with a dashcam and voice on video, was interviewed by WESH 2 News about the incident. During the interview, he mentioned, “I noticed when I replayed the dashcam that there was a Honda Civic also speeding, so I guess they were racing.” You can easily spot the white Honda Civic in the frame at impact.

Somehow, the Porsche was able to drive away from the scene afterwards. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that they found an abandoned 911 at a nearby gas station. I guess it’s a small benefit of mounting the engine in the rear. Even so, the people in the Porsche were lucky to drive away from the very beginning. The crash could have been much more serious if they had veered into the median or hit another vehicle in the first place.
