Police officer, 40, uses position to ‘fake’ sex with 12 vulnerable women
A former police officer used his position to ‘fake’ sex with dozens of vulnerable women, a court has heard.
Daniel Nash, 40, faces 13 misconduct charges in a public office while his former Derbyshire colleague PC Matthew Longmate, 46, faces one misconduct charge .
Nash allegedly ‘initiated and pursued’ sexual relations with 12 women between January 2015 and December 2020.
Nash and PC Longmate were both accused of ‘performing sexual acts’ with the same woman on October 4, 2015.
Nash shows no sign of pleading guilty while PC Longmate indicated through his attorney that he will not plead guilty to a wrongdoing charge he faces.
Nash and PC Longmate, both of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in dark suits.

The first charge, which both officers faced, reads: ‘From 3 October 2015 to 5 October 2015 in Chesterfield while active as a public service officer, namely a police officers, knowingly and without reasonable cause or justification have engaged in misconduct with abusing public trust towards the office owner by performing sexual acts.
The rest of the charges, which only Nash has faced, read: ‘While acting as a public official, specifically a police officer, knowingly and without reason or reasonable justification has misbehaved in a manner that leads to the abuse of public trust in the holding office by initiating and pursuing a relationship. ‘
Prosecutor Jocelyn Ledward said: ‘The allegation against Mr Nash is that he used his police position to forge an affair with certain female members of the public or at least to seek a way out. do like that.
‘These are all women he will only encounter due to his police position and his duties there.
‘Many of the complainants appear to be vulnerable in general or at a particular point in their lives, often as victims, witnesses, particularly in relation to domestic violence issues. , or … the suspect.

‘The real prosecution is that he pursued these relationships.
‘They range from trying to kiss effectively… to conducting sexual relationships that have sometimes been going on for a number of years.’
The prosecutor explained that the general wrongdoing charge alleges that two officers engaged in sexual acts with an intoxicated woman after she was kicked out of a nightclub on October 4, 2015.
District Judge Michael Snow has released the defendants on bail before pleading guilty and a hearing is set to begin October 18 at Southwark Crown Court.
He said: ‘From now on… you are forbidden to have any contact with each other of any kind.
‘Similarly, you are prohibited from contacting directly or indirectly with each claim listed on the charge sheet.’
