Police arrest suspect who hit driver & shot at car when toddler was inside
Texas police arrested a man and a woman on Tuesday following a street rampage involving assault and shooting. Officers took Benjamin Greene and Nazly Ortiz into the Harris County Jail as they awaited the results assault crime.
Based on ABC13, The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon on the North Highway near 1960. A man was driving north with his two-year-old child in a silver car when a truck sped up. when they leave, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
After both vehicles stopped, Benjamin climbed out of the truck, approached another vehicle, and allegedly assaulted the driver. The driver is said to have tried to leave the scene, but Nazly also climbed out of the truck with a higher temperature for the victim.
A nearby driver started record the incident. The video, which has been widely shared on social platforms, shows Nazly holding a handgun. When the victim peeled off and Benjamin tried to cling to the side of the car, Nazly raised the gun. She then fired one shot into the right window, the back seat of the victim’s car.
But the shot did not slow the victim down. As he turned the corner, Nazly ran to the other side of the truck. The video shows Benjamin trying to get her attention, even gesturing for her to get inside the truck. Instead, Nazly raised his gun and fired again. Still clutching the gun, she dropped her arm to the side. At this point, Benjamin tries to grab her waist. The two rushed to pick up items on the side of the road, before running towards their truck to climb inside.
Victim being treated for minor injuries — Suspect faces assault charge
Nazly’s second shot hit a dealer in the corner where the victim turned. However, no one inside was injured. Thankfully, the outcome was the same for both the man who was assaulted and the two-year-old child in the car. The man was treated for a gunshot wound, but he was “in good condition” every ABC13’s Report.
Sheriff Gonzalez said Nazly faces a more serious assault charge. Benjamin was charged solely for assault.
This afternoon, the two sides were involved in a road rage while driving north at No. 45 near 1960. The victim was driving his car with his 2-year-old son in tow.
