Nihilego is coming back Pokemon go Gyms near you to rotate in five-star raid battles. This Ultra Beast is the title for Pokemon Go’s new gameeclipse“Event. We don’t know much about this new event other than the rampaging raid bosses.
Nihilego raid schedule
Nihilego will appear as the only five-star raid boss in Pokemon Go starting at 10 a.m. local time on November 23, 2022, and will remain combat-ready until that same time on November 1. December. Raids don’t usually follow a set schedule, and Nihilego raids will randomly spawn at Gyms around the world during this time, but you’ll get a notification from game when a raid is about to begin nearby. Like Guzzlord’s recent attacks, Nihilego’s attacks will be indicated by an Ultra Wormhole that spawns on top of the Gym instead of a regular raid egg.
Your best chance of finding Nihilego raids is during Raid Hour, in which Parasite Pokemon will be introduced. Every Wednesday, from 18:00 to 19:00, local time, most Gyms organize five-star raids for Coaches to work together to take down. Nihilego will be the standout raid boss during the November 23rd and 30th raids. As with all raids, you’ll need the daily free Raid Pass or premium Battle Pass to go live. join the raid or the Remote Raid Pass to join a raid from afar.
Can I catch a shiny Nihilego?
Despite its debut earlier this year, Nihilego’s Shiny has yet to be released. Since this is its first full spin in attacks, we can expect that next time it comes back we’ll be able to get a shiny golden jellyfish.
Nihilego’s Weaknesses and Counters
Nihilego is a Poison and Stone-type Pokemon. This means it takes super-effective damage from Psychic, Water, and Steel-type attacks. That also means losing dual Super effective damage from Ground-type attacks, so this should be your first choice. Some suggested Ground types include Landorus, Excadrill, Garchomp, and Groudon. If you don’t have a strong Earth-type counter, here are some other recommended Pokemon to use against Nihilego’s attacks:
- Steel: Mega Scizor, Metagross, Genesect, Dialga
- Water: Mega Blastoise, Kyogre, Swampert
- Psychic: Mega Alakazam, Mewtwo, Espeon, Alakazam, Hoopa Unbound
Mega Tip: Mega Evolved Pokemon increase the damage taken by all Pokemon in the raid by 10% and the damage of all Pokemon that use an attack of the same type as the Mega Evolved Pokemon by 30%. Coordinate those Megas with your raiding party for extra damage. Note that while Mega Steelix will increase damage to other Ground types during the raid, its defense-biased stats mean it likely won’t do enough damage worth using . Mega Alakazam, Blastoise or Scizor would be ideal Megas to use in Nihilego attacks.
Don’t be afraid of the dark: Shadow Pokemon deal 20% more damage than non-Shadow Pokemon, so the dark version of any suggested Pokemon that have them can help you win.
Nihilego’s double weakness to Earth-type attacks means it’s relatively easy to take down even with small groups focused on using Fairy Pokemon.
Types to avoid
Nihilego’s Poison and Rock-type attacks will heavily hit Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, and Fire-type Pokemon. Also, keep in mind that Nihilego resists Normal, Flying, Bug, Fire, and Fairy-type attacks and is also resistant to Poison-type moves. Avoid these types of Pokemon.

Is Nihilego worth a raid more than a Pokedex entry? When first released during the Global Go Fest event, Nihilego was not worthy of consideration due to its lackluster fast-moving selection. Season of Light breathed new life into Nihilego by giving it access to Poison Jab, a great Poison-style fast move. Nihilego is the top Poison raid attacker, and while that isn’t used very often in raids, there could be a good Nihilego or two for your Grass and Fairy list.
Nihilego also has a niche in the PvP Master League. While its double weakness to Earth and inability to threaten the Steels has held it back for much of the meta, it’s one of the hardest counters for Zacian, one of the most popular Pokemon. most dominant in the Master League. That use may not be worth it for many players to invest resources into building a level 50 Nihilego, but others may enjoy going Zacian hunting with it.
