HYDERABAD: Simultaneous searches given by Telangana police in seven places across four states on Saturday regarding Poachgateallegedly involved in large amounts of money to defect engineers.
Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigated the alleged scandal, claiming to have seized incriminating evidence during the search until the final report.
The sources said that seven teams including 80 policemen drawn from Cyberabad, Hyderabad and other police units, stormed the home of three arrested accused – a religious preacher based in Faridabad. Ramachandra Bharathi, Hyderabad-based entrepreneurs Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy in Tirupati. Doctor Jaggu’s residence in Kochi is in Kerala were also searched.
Searches were carried out at Bharathi’s home in Faridabad in Haryana and Puttur in Karnataka and Simhayaji Swamy’s residence in Tirupati. SIT officers also raided the home and restaurant of Hyderabad businessman Nanda Kumar in local Jubilee Hills.
“We have conducted searches at seven locations in Haryana, Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana,” an SIT official said.
Sources said that Dr Jaggu was the bridge between the accused Ramachandra Bharathi and another suspect, Tushar, who has yet to be arrested. “Tushar spoke to MLA Rohith Reddy over the phone. Dr. Kerala seems to be close to Tushar and we need to verify the evidence gathered by the teams about the activities of each accused,” said an official involved in the investigation.
Police also claimed to have evidence that the lawmaker’s relative, Srinivas, had booked a plane ticket for Simhayaji Swamy from Tirupati to Hyderabad. Police are likely to add more people charged in the case after special teams return with evidence from other states.
