MANILA, Philippines — The PLDT has parted ways with coach George Pascua after directing shots during a season in the Premier Volleyball League.
The High Speed Hitters on Monday wished the veteran coach every success in his new endeavors as they changed head coach for the third consecutive season.
“We would like to thank coach George Pascua for everything he has done for the team. He has built a program that helps players strengthen their team spirit and play, as they face battles on the field in the three conferences that Coach George attends,” the team wrote. . “We wish him well as he continues with new endeavors. Mabuhay ka at paddayon, Coach!
Pascua confirmed to Inquirer Sports that he is no longer working for the PLDT but he did not disclose the reason.
Men’s coaches with many titles will focus on Adamson’s Falcon for the UAAP Season 85 men’s volleyball tournament in February.
Pascua was the man to replace Roger Gorayeb when the PLDT had a major overhaul in early 2022, recruiting a number of players such as Mika Reyes, Dell Palomata, Jules Samonte and Kath Arado.
High Speed Hitters finished in fifth place in the 2022 Open Conference after beating F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in a classification match.
PLDT secured the first PVL semi-final spot in the Invitationals but finished in fourth place before missing out on the Reinforced Conference final quarterfinals with a 3-5 record in sixth place.
Pascua has a total of 10-14 in three tournaments.
He was also replaced by Tina Salak as the FEU women’s volleyball coach last July after winning just one of 14 games in UAAP Season 84.
