Pixel 7 Features, Pixel 7 Pro Coming to Older Models Through Upcoming Feature Drop: Report

With the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro now announced, there are a number of new features that will remain exclusive to the new smartphones powered by the company’s new Tensor G2 processor. Shortly after the launch of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro successors, a new report has claimed that Google’s next feature drop will bring some of these features to older Pixel smartphones. The company regularly launches new feature sales for its Pixel-branded smartphones to add or enable new features or improve existing functionality.

Google’s next drop, according to PhoneArena It is expected to launch in December of this year and is expected to bring back some of the features we saw at launch on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro models. One detail to keep in mind is that larger features will only come to Tensor-enabled smartphones, including Pixel 6a (officially launched in India), Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Models. However, there are several other devices that will also arrive on non-Tensor Pixel devices.

Explicit calling powered by the Tensor processor will be available on older Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models. This feature reduces background noise when making voice calls. Also included with the clear call feature is a new quick phrase that allows users to drop an incoming call simply by saying the word “silent”. The tutorial framework has also been announced with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones coming to older Tensor-enabled devices. This is an accessibility-related feature that allows people with low vision to take selfies by giving them voice commands that help them locate the phone in real time.

Real Tone, according to Google, accurately displays the diverse skin tones already on the Pixel 6a, but the improvements already made to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will soon be available on older Tensor-enabled Pixels as well. Spatial audio will arrive via an update on the Pixel Buds Pro, which will also be available on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro models, according to the report.

Coming to Tensor processor-independent features, there is a ‘Quick View’ widget available on the home screen that will now show additional information along with the information that would normally be relayed through the widget. Transcription of audio messages, also coming to older non-Tensor smartphones, includes Pixel 4a.

To recall, Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will go on sale in India next week. The phones were launched at Rs 59,999 and Rs 84,999 respectively and will only be available in RAM and internal storage variants in India only. Both smartphones run Google’s new Tensor G2 processor and come with subtle improvements over the previous Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models that weren’t launched by Google in India. The new smartphone will go on sale on Flipkart on October 13 with pre-orders already open.
