Pirates ‘Castro loses cell phone when sliding into 3B

Pittsburgh Pirates Midfielder Rodolfo Castro is just in his second big season. He only plays in 53rd game Tuesday night meets the Arizona Diamondbacks and may still be getting used to things since his debut on “The Show”.

Castro may have made MLB history on Tuesday with one of the weirder guys in recent memory.

The 23-year-old Dominican Republic-born was called up from Triple-A on Tuesday and tried to explain his mistake after the contest, a 6-4 defeat to Arizona.

“I don’t think any professional soccer player could go out there with any intention of holding a cell phone,” Castro said, through an interpreter. “It was horrible when it happened to me. Obviously, it was very accidental.”

The breakdown came after Castro took the lead in the fourth inning and advanced to third on the singles board by highly-rated rookie Oneil Cruz.

“My first day back, if I were the center of attention, I’d want it to help the team win, but never in this form,” Castro said. “This is definitely something that was an accident, a mistake, something I would learn from. But definitely something I didn’t mean to happen.”
