Pimp My Ride is coming back to YouTube

This is a real thing.

In 2005, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the biggest movie in theaters and Mariah Carey topped Billboard’s year-end chart with “We belong Together”. It was a simple time.

And while all that was going on, MTV decided that what the world really needed was the British version of Pimp my Ride. Yes really.

Like the American original, Pimp my Ride UK took old cars from viewers and packed them with a full range of exterior upgrades such as body kits, paint colors, textured interiors and more TV screens than you’ll find in Your local Best Buy.

But, unlike its American counterpart, The UK appearance on the show featured old European cars like the 1987 Fiat Panda, the 1991 Volkswagen Polo and even the 1959 Ford Anglia. All were cars you’re unlikely to encounter at your nearest parking lot here in the United States

Like everyone back to the nobility, I clearly watched Pimp my Ride, and its British counterpart. Switching between the two is like taking a sip from the crispy Brooklyn Lager and then drinking a handful of Carling. Both are laggards, both use pretty much the same components, but one is a bit more polished and won’t leave you feeling sick.

(In case you’re wondering, Pimp my Ride UK is the pint of Carling that leaves a sour taste in your mouth.)

Where America had rapper, actor and presenter Xzibit as its host, MTV hired Tim Westwood as the UK host,  an elderly radio DJ peaked at the beginning’The 90s.

While he speculated about the film, believing him to be some sort of god-like dust star, Westwood was serious. “How are you, little ones?” herd increases capacity. He often refers to his “boy” a lot, in reference to whatever the mechanic is diligently working on in an effort to polish the grass.

To make his recruiting for the show even worse, Westwood has since been charged with sexual assault by a number of women as part of an investigation by the BBC and The Guardian.

Now, as if British car fans haven’t had enough, the show will be back… something like that.

MTV UK has decided that now is the time for a revival Pimp my Ride UK cooperate with eBay USAOtter, based on Top gear. The new version of the series will air exclusively on YouTube, while still next a format similar to the original.

Thankfully, the host won’t be some old white man. Instead, MTV UK gave British rapper Lady Lehurr before the show.

From a workshop in Surrey, southern England, Lady Leshurr will lead a team of mechanics, designers and engineers from Wrench Studios as they try to breathe new life into old cars.

Based on Top gearThe first episode of the series will focus on “becoming a Fast and furious-mitsubishi GTO attractive. ”

If all of that sounds like a good way to kill off a couple of hours, the drama will be on air MTV’s YouTube channel above August 19. I just hope it’s not as embarrassing as the original.
