Phase 2 of CUET-UG: Glitches mar first day of exam; NTA announces new dates for cancelled papers

NEW DELHI: Candidates from 41 centers across 29 cities and 17 States/UT were sent back on Thursday due to the postponement of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) due to a technical glitch. More widespread problems in the afternoon time frame forced the National Examinations Administration (NTA) to cancel all of the second exam in more than 400 centers because the general exam questions were not uploaded to the screen.

The agency announced in the evening that the postponed exams will be conducted on August 12, while the canceled exams in the second shift will be from August 12-14, 2022.

The second phase of the college entrance exam begins on Thursday. The first phase, which was conducted between July 15 and 15, has also been plagued by technical problems. While the NTA has distributed the admission ticket only four to five days before the exam, here candidates are also panicking and posting on social media because the agency has not yet distributed the pass for the exams on 7/. 8.

Sadhana Parashar, Senior Director of NTA said: “Due to various administrative and technical reasons, CUET (UG)-2022 scheduled to take place on August 4 (first shift) has been postponed. until August 12 for some testing centers in 17 states,” said Sadhana Parashar, senior director of the NTA.

However, with the NTA canceling the entire second exam of the day, for the above 41 centers, the entire exam hall was cancelled.

The NTA in its announcement said that “Reports have been requested from observers/city coordinators on the ground. Based on their recommendations, the second shift scheduled for August 4, 2022 (Shift 2) (from 3pm to 6pm) is canceled and will now also be conducted during the same period. from 12 to 14 August 2022”.

“Moreover, for technical reasons, exam papers for the second shift of the exam can only be uploaded at 5 p.m., and downloads at 489 centers can begin at 5:25 p.m., while the exam Exam is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.,” Parashar said.

The candidates are also unhappy with last-minute changes that upset their plans. Arpit, a candidate said: “My CUET exam was scheduled for August 4th but when I went to my cram school the teacher there told me the exam was canceled today and was scheduled for August 12. They also changed my exam date from August 5. to August 4 without any formal intimacy.”

In Tamil Nadu, August 4 exams were postponed in five cities, while in Jharkhand and Maharashtra four cities each. Exams have been postponed in two cities, one each in Arunachal Pradesh (Namsai and Pasighat) and Uttar Pradesh (Noida and Varanasi).

However, candidates say that centers in cities such as Sultanpur and several others have experienced similar technical problems.

Mudit Pratap Singh, a candidate from a center in Sultanpur, UP tweeted, “Along with me, 50-60 students were unable to complete their exam, the computer screen did not show the question and choice. choose, my test center. But the NTA only mentioned two cities in UP in their announcement. Very disgusting. Along with Sultanpur district, very few other districts are facing the same problem”.

According to the NTA, the same pass will be valid for candidates whose exams have been postponed. However, if August 12-14, 2022 did not match any of the candidates, the agency asked them to send an email mentioning their desired date and number.

NTA is conducting CUET (UG) – 2022 from July 15 to August 20 (excluding dates of other university exams and public holidays) at 489 centers located between 259 cities across India and nine cities outside India.
