PGT launches grassroots program | Inquirer Sports

Taking its support all the way down to the grassroots level, Philippine Golf Tour (PGT) has announced a round of 17 events that are different from regular tournaments and will be held nationwide starting with the Junior PGT stage at The Country Club (TCC) in Laguna on January 29.
The circuit will be a tee, batting and batting competition for four age groups (9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-17) for boys and girls held for the first time at the training ground of the club. TCC, putting green and chipping areas will be roped exclusively for participants.
The brainchild of longtime golf patron Ricky Razon, president and CEO of ICTSI, the company sponsors men’s and women’s professional races and supports a number of campaigns in the country. In addition to the top amateurs, the upcoming race will be led by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
Legs in the Visayas and Mindanao, long considered the birthplace of golfing talents, are also being studied.
There will be no membership fees with the new juniors tournament that is neither competitive nor affiliated with any existing junior golf organizations.
