Peugeot e-208 has more range and power for 2023

Less than a year ago Peugeot upgrade e-208 by giving it more range, it now goes even further by equipping a larger battery, resulting in a maximum range of 248 miles. Peugeot said updated e-208 will arrive in 2023.

While the new e-208 will share the battery with fully electric hatchback brother Peugeot claims the electric supermini will travel up to 248 miles on a single charge (up from 225 miles), of which the larger e-308 has a range of “more than 248 miles” according to the French label.

The new battery is a 54kWh unit (51kWh usable) and with it comes the ability to boost output from 136bhp to 156bhp. Torque remains the same at 260Nm. Peugeot didn’t say the performance numbers we can expect but the 0-62mph time is slightly faster than the 8.1 seconds of the model going on the tag. Peugeot claims that recharging the new e-208 from 20 to 80% using a 100kW public charging point will take less than 25 minutes.

At the heart of the range of innovations, Peugeot says, is the new chemistry used in the battery. This is also combined with a heat pump, humidity sensor, a new ratio in the gearbox and lower friction tyres.

Visually, the new e-208 looks no different from the old model. Inside, we’ll see Peugeot’s i-Cockpit display, which is made up of a 10-inch central display, the driver display and a small, flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Peugeot hasn’t revealed a price for the updated e-208, but we expect it to be up from the current car’s £30,195 starting price.
