Perth weather: Maximum temperature tipped to exceed 40C for second day in row while fog causes road warning

Perth is bracing for a summer scorcher with a maximum temperature of 41C set to hit the metropolitan area.

It’s the second time in as many days Perth has been forecast to reach a maximum above 40C.

The weather is made all the more uncomfortable thanks to a very thick layer of fog that has prompted a warning from the Bureau of Meteorology.

The fog has reduced visibility, making road conditions particularly dangerous in the northern and western suburbs.

The high humidity comes from tropical air in the northern parts of WA that are heading south.
