People are being airlifted to safety to escape Kentucky floods

Residents in eastern Kentucky are being transported to safety after the area suffered its worst flooding in decades.
Soldiers from the National Guard are using helicopters to rescue trapped people.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said the rescue operation was ongoing and he expected emergency crews to “search for the bodies for weeks”.
President Joe Biden declared the flooding “a major disaster” and ordered federal aid to help local rescuers.
