PC Witcher 3 patch released – maybe now my laptop will stop screaming at me
Following the strong launch of the next-gen update, the developers of The Witcher 3 patched the game for PC users to address some of the game’s performance issues.
If you are one of those Witcher fans who sadly have a complete PC buckling under pressure of the next generation update, you are not alone. I started the seven year old game hoping for some buttery smooth reworked graphics, and all I got was a computerized version of an aggressive middle finger. Yes, that means my laptop fits it perfectly.
Developer CD Projekt RED (CDPR) saw our pain and released a patch for Steam and EA Play copies of the beloved fantasy RPG. Announcement through the game’s official Twitter (opens in a new tab)CDPR’s hot PC update “will improve stability and overall performance, and fix GOG & Steam overlays.”
This is a huge relief, as the game has been virtually unplayable for me since the update came out. All I want is some cool fixed drop damage – yes, even as a trade-off for broken mods – and that dream can come true with this patch.
We’ve just released a hotfix for The Witcher 3 on PC, which should improve overall performance and stability, and fix GOG & Steam overlays. The game version will not change. Our teams are working to further improve the experience across all platforms. pic.twitter.com/YHEjbfpgvGDecember 19, 2022
Toss a coin for this fixer
Whether you are the proud owner of one of these best gaming laptop on the market or are a fervent believer that your 2018 generation graphics card is working perfectly fine, thanks a lot, The Witcher 3 next generation update has seen the increase of many problems on all platforms.
It seems that PC players have been bearing the brunt of the performance issues, with gamers noticing lower-than-average fps, even for laptop owners. that’s the high end and lags a lot even though the graphics resolution and ray tracing have dropped. off, the game still feels sluggish at best.
Anyone facing the problem initially advised (opens in a new tab) to update their drivers and if that fails, revert to an older version of the game. This will patch the game back to the last updated version from 2016, which has no next-generation update changes implemented and exists as an unsupported version of The Witcher 3.
Thankfully, our PC users may not have to sacrifice that. The graphics overhaul and ray tracing offered by the next-gen update is really just the tip of the iceberg; Aleksha McLoughlin, TRG Hardware Editor even commented on how even a a bit annoying on her PS5. Anyway, I never really cared much for ray tracing in games; please let me pamper Roach and tell him what a good boy he is before I throw my HP Pavillion out the window.
