MANILA, Philippines-Rain or Shine played four games in the PBA Governors’ Cup, but a win remained elusive on Sunday night.

Still reeling from a disastrous defeat to defending champion Barangay Ginebra, Painters coach Yeng Guiao admitted that the club were considering changing imports.

“Actually, I’m fine with my locals. But Michael (Qualls) is so athletic and aggressive, I think we’re having a problem with our chemistry,” he told reporters after a 116-108 defeat to the defending champion at Smart Araneta. Coliseum in Cubao.

“We have a week off. Our next game is on Sunday. We will determine if it is still in our interest to retain or seek another source of imports,” he continued.

There’s really nothing to complain about the Qualls’ “intensity, effort, and athleticism,” just Rain or Shine is having fitness issues, which has been detrimental to their campaign. hitherto.

“Sometimes it’s how you bond with your team. That’s chemistry. It makes the people around you better. A player comes in and makes the team look better — I think that’s where the value is created,” said the championship mentor.

“You can make the numbers, the highlights, but what’s more important is whether you can make the people around you better. And that’s what we’re looking for.”

Qualls, best known for helping NorthPort reach the Finals in 2019, have performed very well as far as stats are concerned. He’s averaged 26.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals so far, but that’s barely reflected in the Painters’ record in Tournaments.

“We will have to decide (soon),” Guiao said. “[Otherwise] We have to import by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest so he has about three days of training with us before the next game.”

“Used to [still] Looking forward to our next game. We’ll be playing against teams that are on par with us, so we can just break the ice. We just need to get out of our losing streak.”
