PBA: Still finding his form, Mikey Williams delivers for TNT

ANTIPOLO—Not at his peak, Mikey Williams was still playing for TNT Friday night.
Williams, who has been recovering from an Achilles injury since September, played a key role in Tropang Giga’s comeback win over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
“I’m slowly trying to find my rhythm again. I feel like I’m not quite at one hundred percent right now but I’m trying to get through,” Williams said after the game. win 105-100 at the Ynares Center here.
“It is definitely getting better. It started to hurt during the All-Philippines Cup Final. I play through it which makes it a bit more painful but I’m slowly trying to get it right.
Williams said he remains at 80% during his recovery, however, he looks like his old dead self the whole time.
Holding a precarious 102-100 lead, Williams nailed a 3-clutch pointer to help Tropang Giga get 5 points when it was only 26.3 ticks after being 18 points away.
“We all trust each other, we support each other every day, we are all in the trenches. It’s all because we all believe what our coaches say and stick to it,” he said.
The 31-year-old keeper scored a brace three times, scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as TNT made it 2-0.
In addition to his attacking prowess, Williams was also praised for his efforts in defence.
“Don’t skimp on defending Mikey. He’s made some shots but his defense tonight was excellent. It’s the best I’ve seen in a few months. that’s what I asked of him,” said TNT interim coach Jojo Lastimosa.
