PBA set for 5 game days a week for Governors’ Cup elims
MANILA, Philippines–PBA will host five days of competition a week for most of the season-ending Governors Cup knockout that begins Sunday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Rain or Shine and Meralco kick things off at 4:30pm before Converge and NorthPort kick off at 6:45pm as season 47 games will resume after Barangay Ginebra’s title win over visitors Bay Area in the Commissioner’s Cup.
But the federation is speeding up the timing of the third congress to allow its players to represent Gilas Pilipinas at the Cambodia Southeast Asian Games.
The regional meeting is set for early May and Gilas is expected to send the best possible squad to recover after. heavy defeat against Indonesia to win the gold medal in last year’s edition in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The other four teams debuted on January 25 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with NLEX facing Blackwater and TNT facing Phoenix while Terrafirma first came into action the next day against Converge at Philsports.
Magnolia meets Converge while San Miguel Beer plays Phoenix on January 29 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City as the two semi-finalists of the Commission’s Cup unleash their own title aspirations.
eucalyptus tree won’t begin its campaign until February 5 when it ends with Rain or Shine at the Big Dome. Finalists from the previous conference have longer time to recharge their batteries and prepare for the next tournament.
Elimination will run until March 17 before the knockout round takes place with the top eight advancing.
