PBA: ‘Nervous’ James Yap felt like a rookie again in return

MANILA, Philippines—James Yap went back in time with a classic Sunday night performance in Rain or Shine’s 105-87 loss to Meralco in the opening game of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Yap earned 14 points based on a stunning crowd-pleasing performance at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

A member of the league’s 40 greatest players, the 19-year-old pro also dedicates his comeback to his constituents in the City of San Juan, where he also currently serves with as a council member.

“I am very happy that I can still perform well. The results may not have been good since we lost, but I’m sure we’ll bounce back,” said seasoned Yap, who has written an impressive resume featuring seven PBA crowns, including the rare Triple Crown scan.

The Painters are hoping to win against TNT this Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
