PBA legends Olsen Racela, Johnny Abarrientos and Jojo Lastimosa and coaches Yeng Guiao and Chot Reyes endorsed Robredo in her run for president for the 2022 election on May 9.
Guiao along with former PBA coaches expressed their support for the incumbent Vice President in a video posted on Sunday.
“In basketball, you can’t be slow. You should act fast and stay alert,” said the NLEX coach in Filipino. “(We) need a leader who is always there and cannot be disarmed by any fake news.”
“We come from different teams. But when it comes to the country, we are one,” he added.
Racela, who currently coaches Far Eastern University in UAAP, says achievement is important.
“In basketball, you can’t miss practice sessions and games. You showed in the hardest of times,” said former San Miguel Beermen. “A leader’s excellence and strength cannot be measured by his gender, but by his or her achievements.”
Former Alaska teammates Abarrientos and Lastimosa encouraged the Filipino people to stand with Robredo.
“We encourage you to stand up for Leni Robredo,” said Abarrientos.
Lastimosa added: “We are one for the country and we are one in choosing a president who can enhance our lives.”
On Tuesday, Gilas Pilipinas and TNT coach Reyes also endorse Robredo on his Instagram, conveys the national team fighter: ‘Laban Pilipinas! Puso! ‘
“The game is not over yet. We’re working on the last two minutes with no timeouts, so we need teamwork. Let’s help each other to boast to the whole world that we are Filipinos,” Reyes said in Filipino.
