PBA: Jorge Gallent named San Miguel head coach ahead of Governors’ Cup
MANILA, Philippines—Looks like San Miguel Beer has moved in from Leo Austria after listing Jorge Gallent as head coach for the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup.
An official roster of rosters released by the league on Saturday pointed to Gallent as the man who will call shots for the Beermen during the season-ending conference that begins the next day.
San Miguel officials did not respond at the time of posting.
The move has been in the works since being knocked out of the Commissioner’s Cup when Gallent was tasked with calling the shots temporarily after Austria was placed under health and safety protocols.
Gallent took the Beermen to four straight wins to end qualifying before overcoming Converge FiberXers in the quarterfinals.
Austria returned in the semi-finals that saw San Miguel eliminated by the Bay Area away team.
The Beermen have won nine titles under Austria, including the Philippine Cup this season.
