MANILA, Philippines–Rookie Jamaal Franklin scored 42 points on his debut as Converge took control in the second half to beat Terrafirma, 130-115, on Thursday in the PBA Governors’ Cup at Philsports Arena in Pasig City .
Franklin shot 9/20 from the field, with 7 coming from the 3-point range, while also adding 11 rebounds and 8 assists in 40 minutes to put FiberXers on their second straight win to start congress ends the season.
The Former NBA player arrives to replace Ethan Rustbach with more offensive intentions that Franklin succeeded at the gate.
“Of course, he’s still adjusting,” Franklin coach Converge Aldin Ayo said in Filipino. “Hopefully he will be able to familiarize himself with our system during our successful operations. But he played a good game.”
Maverick Ahanmisi had 16 points and 9 rebounds with Jeron Teng and rookie center-back Justine Arana each scoring 15 points for Converge.
Convergence beat the weather in the first half of Terrafirma led by first-time importer Jordan Williams, who finished with 46 points.
Williams fired on all cylinders in the first 24 minutes, and had 30 shots when Terrafirma started the split 71-68.
But Williams and Dyip cooled in the second half and the FiberXers tipped 18-2 in the third, turning an 80-76 deficit into a 94-82 lead behind Franklin, Teng and Arana.
