Paul George tests positive for COVID-19, misses play-in game


The Los Angeles Clippers Only hours away from their biggest game of the season, a must-win Play-In Tournament against the New Orleans Pelicans. They just had to take a potential direct hit with the news that seven-time All-Star Paul George has tested positive for COVID-19.

The loss of “PG-13” cannot be overstated. George is at or near the top of the team’s standings in almost every notable statistical category.

George has been limited to 31 games this season due to elbow injurybut still Clippers’ tempo in points (24,3), assists (5.7), steals (2,2) and minutes per game (34.7), and ranked second in bounces per game (6, 9). Without George on the floor, Los Angeles would likely have to rely heavily on the likes of newcomer Norman Powell and veteran point guard Reggie Jackson, among others.

The Clippers-Pelicans survivor on Friday will face the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in the first round of the Western Conference knockouts.
