Mouratoglou has dedicated his life to finding talent and developing young athletes. In 1996, he founded the “Mouratoglou Tennis Academy” to make a positive impact on the sports industry by producing tennis champions such as Laura Robson, Marcos Baghdatis, Julia Vakulenko and Aravane Reza, some names.
Serena Williams, a famous tennis player, contacted him in 2012 for advice and coaching after going through a difficult period. The pair’s partnership amassed 19 consecutive wins, winning titles at Wimbledon and the US Open, and wowing the world. Serena Williams ended the year with a 36-1 championship record.
The chemistry on the court between the 23-time Grand Slam champion and her coach is undeniably strong, but the instructor has come under intense scrutiny due to allegations of eroticism. In 2013, retired Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova and Selena had a verbal argument. As a result, the latter attacked the former during a press conference, calling Mouratoglou her “lover”.
It’s hard to say whether this is a hotly contested case as Selena refuses to accept or deny the accusations. Things took a turn for the worse when it was reported that the coach’s wife filed for divorce the same year. When his former patron, Patrick Mouratoglou, became embroiled in another controversy, he was furious.
