Pataki, Mack continue to support Ukraine
Former New York Governor George Pataki and former US Ambassador to Finland Earle Mack, who joined forces on a humanitarian mission to Ukraine last springcontinue to support their country by supplying more than a dozen industrial grade heaters to refugee shelters.
While leading a humanitarian mission to Ukraine and the border areas receiving refugees, Governor Pataki and Ambassador Mack provided large-scale portable heaters, each capable of heating 10 families in different shelters across the region. Temporary shelters, many of which are schools or converted city buildings, did not have enough heat as the Russian military began targeting basic infrastructure in the country. .
“Over the past few weeks, it has become clear that Russia’s strategy in Ukraine is seriously damaging, if not destroying, the electricity and energy infrastructure across the country,” said Ambassador Mack. “This means that for millions of people in Ukraine, this unbearably cold winter has to endure without heating. The consequences are profound, and it’s important that we get started and give Ukrainians the tools that can make a difference. If each fireplace can save one life, this mission will be a resounding success and pave the way for future endeavors.”
