Ather Energy announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Southern Railway to install electric scooter charging points at MRTS/Suburban stations in Chennai. Aimed at helping electric vehicle owners conveniently re-energize their vehicles, these chargers are also capable of assisting those who choose to park and avail of train services.
In a press release, Ather announced that they will have a dedicated 100 square foot space at each MRTS/Suburban station to set up charging areas. This area will be enough for three chargers at each of these locations. Furthermore, the chargers will not only help power Ather’s electric scooters but also those from rival brands, in addition to electric cars.
Ather went on to emphasize that it is focused and committed to expanding the charging infrastructure in the country, and stated that the partnership to create charging points at 10 stations in Chennai will further benefit the customers. electric vehicle owners. “We have installed over 60 Ather Grids across Chennai and over 185 across Tamil Nadu. Our partnership with Southern Railway will allow us to install 10 fast charging points at MRTS/Suburban stations in Chennai, making access easier,” said Aravind Prasad, Head of Infrastructure charger, Ather Energy said.
The Bengaluru-based company currently has 1200 Ather Grids, fast charging points across the country. In terms of production, Ather currently has two manufacturing facilities with the second being inaugurated last November in Hosur in Tamil Nadu. Both units will provide Ather with a combined output capacity of 420,000 per year in fiscal year 2024.
