However, about 1 in 20 people with this condition develop their first symptoms when they are under 40 years old. The NHS also notes a greater chance of developing Parkinson’s disease than women.
Canadian-American actor Michael J. Fox is one of the rare people to suffer from Parkinson’s disease at a young age.
While he kept quiet about his progressive disease for about 7 years, it was in 1991 that the actor, then 29 years old, was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at a young age. He revealed this news in 1998, when he began campaigning to increase research on Parkinson’s disease.
Speaking to People magazine, Fox revealed that on the set of the movie Doc Hollywood, he first noticed his left pinky finger twitching.
