Paris 2024 Paralympics: Closing with celebrations at Stade de France

The Paris 2024 Paralympics will culminate with a spectacular closing ceremony on Sunday, capping off a fantastic summer of sport in the French capital.

Twenty-four artists from the French electronic music scene are leading the party atmosphere at the Stade de France in front of 4,400 athletes from 168 Paralympic delegations.

Poppy Maskill and Matt Bush were the flag bearers representing Great Britain at the ceremony, which concluded the 11-day competition.

Maskill, 19, won three gold medals from a total of five, the most by a British athlete in Paris, along with swimming teammate Alice Tai and wheelchair racer Sammi Kinghorn.

Bush, 35, won Great Britain’s first Para Taekwondo title when he won gold in the men’s K44 +80kg event.

The 215-strong Great Britain team finished second, behind China, in the medals table in Paris with 124 medals (49 gold, 44 silver and 31 bronze).

Great Britain equalled their medal tally in Tokyo three years ago but won eight more golds in Paris.

The next Summer Paralympics will take place in Los Angeles, USA in 2028 and Broadway star Ali Stoker will sing the US national anthem at the closing ceremony in Paris.
