India’s victory over Bangladesh in the Group 2 match of the T20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday confirmed all but their semi-finals. While there are still some permutations and combinations that could make Rohit Sharma & Co. missed, but the win over Bangladesh gave their case a huge boost. At the same time, this result puts Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the qualifiers really in jeopardy. But, all hope is not yet extinguished for Pakistan. Babar Azam & Co still have two games to play in the tournament, and if some other outcome goes in their favor, they can still book tickets to the final four.

Scenario 2:Pakistan won both of their matches (against South Africa and Bangladesh), and India continued to lose to Zimbabwe by a large margin so their Net Running Rate fell below Pakistan.

In fact, the second scenario seems less plausible than the first, although neither scenario is the most achievable for Pakistan.
The Babar Azam-led team first need to beat South Africa on Thursday to keep themselves afloat in the tournament. A defeat to Proteas would bury all their hopes.
