Pakistan court issues non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran Khan in Toshakhana case



ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant without bail for the former prime minister. Pakistan’s electoral commission last year convicted the party of concealing its receipt of money and also removed Khan.
The banned funding case was filed by estranged PTI founding member Akbar S Babar during the ECP in 2014.
Khan has not attended any hearings since last November when he was wounded in an assassination attempt at his rally in the Wazirabad area of ​​Punjab.
Khan has been granted temporary bail by a special court in Islamabad after being shot in an assassination attempt.
Since then, he has been granted an extension of bail for medical reasons.
Khan was ousted from power in April after losing a vote of no confidence in his leadership, which he accused was part of a US-led plot against him for his independent foreign policy decisions toward Russia, China, and Afghanistan.
The head of PTI, who came to power in 2018, is the only Pakistani prime minister to be ousted in a vote of no confidence in Parliament.
