Despite being half a century away from Moeen Ali, England fell six points in the chase as Pakistan led 3-2 in a seven-match T20 series.

After putting Pakistan in a precarious position, England were regularly defeated when eliminating the home team 145 in 19 rounds with Mark Wood claiming the score 3-20.

In response, Pakistani bowlers were also regularly subject to battle as they tried to strangle British bowlers and limit the number of tourists to 139-7, with first bowler Aamir Jamal ended with a brilliant finale.

England needed 15 balls from the last six and although Moeen hit Jamal with six to reduce it to eight requiring three, the England captain failed to knock out the next two, leaving David Willey must hit the last six. ball to tie a lanyard.

Pakistan can secure the streak in the next match on Friday while England must win to make it decide.

Poor strength cost England

England can be confident they can chase with a low total, but a combination of poor picks and good bowling early in the half sent England falling below the required margin.

Without the likes of Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone, England’s top order was broken for the second consecutive game.

Both openers came cheap, with Alex Hales knocking out Mohammad Nawaz to drop back and Phil Salt dragging Haris Rauf deep into the middle.

Ben Duckett appeared to have a reaction, scoring twice on his first four serves, but he was knocked out by 10 points against Mohammad Wasim’s bowling.

Dawid Malan hasn’t found his rhythm so far in the series and stuck after Harry Brook, England’s top scorer in the series, played around with a straight hit from Shadab Khan and downgraded after the DRS assessment.

Sam Curran and Chris Woakes, returning to the international cricket arena after a six-month break, were disqualified because of their low scores.

Moeen played the final match and although hitting four points six of his 50 didn’t pass, England failed again.

Wooden star when England made it difficult for Pakistan with short shadows

Mark Wood was recalled to the side after he was rested in the T20 fourth game and his fierce pace made it difficult for the hitter again, finishing at 3-20.

Babar Azam, Haider Ali and Asif Ali all fell to Wood, who made it difficult for Pakistan with his speed, accuracy and short ball.

Mohammad Rizwan has scored the most goals for Pakistan, with 63, in the fourth half-century of this streak, after being dropped by Hales on nine goals.

However, two runs out and mistakes by Wood, Willey, Curran and Woakes prevented the rounds from building any momentum.

Woakes, who made his first international appearance since March, took the final win in his 19th game.

Barber was ahead of a Wood hitter in the third to mid game, before Rizwan was dropped by Hales in ninth place.

But the bowler reacted well, using Shan Masood’s player, who misplaced a ramp and a thick touchline that sent the ball into the air for Wood to easily catch.

Wood returned to attack in the eighth inning and almost immediately took a wicket, with Haider sliding easily to catch up to Wood.

Rizwan continued to score but England saw little resistance on the other end.

Iftikhar Ahmed played well before he chopped Willey for a point and Asif Ali was knocked out by Wood with a yorker swing.

Two passes in five balls added to Pakistan’s misery, with England ending the Pakistan half with three goals in the 19th.
