Overwatch 2: Doomfist No longer a damage hero, will be a tank instead

Doomfist, a damaging hero in Overwatch, will swap roles in Overwatch 2, whenever that is finally released.
This news comes from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, who announced that Doomfist will instead become a tank hero during a recent live stream, as reported. PC Gamers. Keller even mentions some of the details regarding this change, including some switching to Doomfist’s move set to transform him into a Tank.
“He’s basically had a similar leap to Winston’s,” Keller said.
Winston’s leap is more about horizontal movement while Doomfist’s leap, as it is today in Overwatch, is more about vertical height and results in damage when falling. It looks like his jump will be similar to Winston’s in Overwatch 2, which makes sense since it will give Doomfist the ability to reach a combat scenario faster and increase some damage.
PC Gamers reports that Keller further described the tank version of the Doomfist as “more survivable” with “well-escape” capatilibies. During the live stream, Overwatch’s lead hero designer Geoff Goodman said Doomfist “does less damage” as a hero, but he also said that today, in a closed beta of the game. Overwatch 2, Doomfist has been overwhelmed and needs a nerf.
This is a big change for Doomfist, which comes with bigger changes happening in Overwatch 2, like switch to 5v5 . gameplay. Bastion will also be very different in Overwatch 2, also. For more on Overwatch 2, read about how Blizzard is “separating” the PvP and PvE experiences of Overwatch 2.
