Over-reliance on Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav cost India the T20 World Cup: Monty Panesar | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: of India T20 World Cup The campaign was squashed by the brilliance of the British white ball in the tournament’s second semi-final at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
India put the score at 168/6, thanks to Hardik Pandya who blew 63 out of 33 balls and Virat kohli50 points 40. But the Indian pitchers were Jos Buttler and Alex Haleswhen the British opening team went all the way to overhauling India’s total and providing a 10-stick hammer for Rohit Sharma & Co.

England will compete for the trophy in the final against Pakistan, who beat New Zealand in the first semi-final, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 13 November.
Buttler (80 * off 49) and Hales (86 * off 47) mocked an ignorant Indian bowling attack and set a solid 170 unbeaten run in 16 rounds to rush into the final . The intense chase saw the two England players hit a total of 13 innings and 10 in the sixth.
Former English player Monty Panesar questioned India’s lackluster record, calling it “overconfident” and without any alternative plans.

Panesar told Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview: “Why doesn’t Rohit (Sharma) have a Plan B or a Plan C? India played really good cricket in the tournament, but they need to understand that it is a semi-final.”
“Rohit predicted Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) would get a couple of turns, but that didn’t happen. So he should have also gone into the semi-finals with Plan B and Plan C. When one thing doesn’t suit you, you immediately switch to another plan… but that’s not the case with the Indian team.”
While Kohli is this World Cup’s all-time top scorer with 296 runs in six games for a staggering 98.67 average, that’s a disappointing letdown for some of the big names. other major players, including captains Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik.

Suryakumar is the second highest runner on the team, scoring 239 runs in six games with an average of 59.75.
Rahul, aside from headers against minority players Bangladesh (50) and Zimbabwe (51), failed to score in double digits in the remaining matches. He scored 4 goals against Pakistan, 9 goals against the Netherlands, 9 goals against South Africa and 5 goals in the semi-final against England.
Panesar feels India is heavily dependent on Kohli and Suryakumar, and that “overdependence” has ultimately cost them dearly.
Panesar told Timesofindia.com: “Overdependence on Virat and Suryakumar cost India the World Cup title.”

“India depends a lot on Virat and Surya. They made very good communication and scored a lot for India. But what about the other players? KL Rahul scored against the small teams. India needed him. He got the points against the big teams, but he failed.” India needs a solid foundation from the starters. That hurts India the most,” said Panesar, who played 50 Tests, 26 ODIs and 1 T20I for England between 2006 and 2013.
“Virat and Surya can’t score in every game. Someone else needs to join them. India needs good openers. India picked KL Rahul because they didn’t have any choice.” I said.
WHY DON’T HARSHAL PATEL AND YUZVENDRA CHAHAL PLAY?
Panesar also questioned India’s play mix, including replacing Dinesh Karthik with Rishabh Pant and preferring off-spin spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and left-handed spinner Axar Patel over Yuzvendra Chahal’s foot spinner.

“I don’t understand one big thing. Why did India switch to Pant from DK (Karthik)?” Panesar calculated.
Ashwin has won six catches in six games at an economic rate of 8.15, while Axar has managed only three hits in five games. In the final, Ashwin was hit 27 times in two passes.
Chahal did not get a single match in the T20 World Cup. Harshal Patel was also seen warming up the bench.
“Chahal is a much better pitcher than Ashwin. Why would India stick with Ashwin when Chahal is also there? … Harshal is another option India should choose. He is a pitchers and can also hit bats. Why isn’t India using these two? I’m surprised. When you have (players like that), then why not use them,” Panesar said. .
‘INDIAN FAVORITE FOR ODI WORLD CUP 2023 AT HOME’
The 2023 ODI World Cup will be hosted by India, and Panesar is confident that Rohit’s team will put on a great show in the over 50-man showdown event.
“India in India is super strong. The 2011 World Cup was in India and (MS) Dhoni took them to the championship. India dominated the tournament. We saw how India can dominate. at home. Rohit will definitely take home that trophy in the cabinet of India. The 2023 World Cup belongs to India,” Panesar signed.
