Keeping an eye on a spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, India was knocked out by Australia in Friday’s Third Test at Indore. Chasing a modest target of 76, Australia crossed the finish line with ease, despite losing a racket on the second ball on Day 3. Travis’s head quick score 49, while Marnus Labuschagne hit the winning mark to stay unbeaten on day 28. Former head coach of India Ravi Shastriwho is on duty as commentator for the ongoing series, criticized the team after the defeat, saying that the home team “despised everything”, letting the game get out of their hands.
“That’s what a little complacency, a little overconfidence can do when you take things for granted, you let your guard down and this game knocks you down. I think that’s the combination. of all this when you really get back in your mind to the first round, see some shots taken, watch some people who are so eager to try and dominate things You look back, take a step or two back to analyze,” Shastri said in commentary after Australia won the match.
After Australia were defeated in the first two Tests within three days, the series is now 2-1 in favor of the home team with one game left.
The enduring victory has secured Australia a place in the final of the ICC World Test Championships in June at The Oval. India will secure the spot if it wins the Fourth Exam in Ahmedabad.
The fourth and final test will take place in Ahmedabad from 9 March.
