Over 40% of BYD Atto 3 pre-orders from luxury car owners, shipping mid-January 2023


More than 40 percent of bookings for the recent launch BYD The Atto 3 has come from existing luxury car owners. Speaking to HT Auto, Sanjay Gopalakrishnan said: “More than 40% of our first consumer bookings come from people who own luxury cars like audio, BMW car and Mercedes-Benz. They already own luxury cars and are looking for an electric option as a second or third family car. We target customers who know about electricity, know about BYD and they want a good electric car with good technology. It’s been a success so far.”

The numbers are particularly impressive considering the BYD Atto 3’s premium placement costs $33.99 lakh (old gallery in India). “Once the cars are delivered, more people will start to see this technology on the road and we will get a good response. Deliveries will start from January 2023. We expect to start deliveries around Auto Expo and there will be a steady stream of deliveries in the future,” Gopalakrishnan added.

Atto 3 is BYD’s flagship product in India at the moment but the brand has already started selling with e6 MPV. The model was launched to commercial buyers in 2021 but sales to private buyers began in August of this year. The electric MPV is expensive $29.15 lakh (old gallery in India).
