At least 200 shops were reduced to ashes in a massive fire at a local market near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh early this morning. Police said there were no casualties in the fire that was first discovered around 3:30 a.m.

Locals allege that although the market is located near the fire station, fire officials did not respond in time. Store owners said no employees were found when they rushed to the fire station to report the incident. They also claimed that the firefighters did not bring enough water when they arrived at the scene.
To refuel the engine, employees have to travel long distances and can only fill up with water around 5 a.m., by which time most of the market has been engulfed in flames, shop owners said.
