This is particularly football-inspired and will involve NBA players, not NBA teams. What is the most passionate form of football? That is easy. It’s the World Cup. National teams are so deeply rooted in pride that the Italian team sings the national anthem with tears rolling down their cheeks before friendlies and Euros.
However, the US vs world format has been done before and no one cares. What I am suggesting is state versus state, individual European countries or even just regions. Are you telling me that an all-New Yorker team playing against all Chicagoans isn’t going to spark a million debates on Twitter? Maybe there is an Eastern European team that has Luka Dončić and Nikola Jokic (both pictured).
The Pacific Northwest team is going to be awesome. So did the Southern team, with Ja Morant and Zion Williamson both from South Carolina. It will take some tweaking, but fans love to represent the people back home and show pride in their city or part of the world.
