The Funky Cat isn’t the only Chinese car to hit the top mark; Great Wall’s Wey Coffee 01, an internal combustion-engined SUV from Europe – earned five stars and outperformed Ora’s percentage scores in three key areas.
Matthew Avery, director of research strategy at NCAP partners Thatcham, Funky Cat and Wey Coffee 01 are all “impressive in terms of protection provided to occupants should an accident occur”. “This is comforting news for those concerned that a new wave of market entry from China could lower safety standards,” he added.
