Optimus Prime has a Lego set and it’s coming next month

Lego is very good at keeping secrets. The latest surprise for Lego is the sets based on the Transformers license and it’s coming soon. Next month, we can go to our favorite Lego supplier to buy a set of Lego Optimus Prime. We still don’t know what it looks like, how many pieces are in the box, or how much it costs, but it’s OPTIMIZE! None of that matters. This will likely be a no-brainer purchase for Transformers fans. Here is the official Lego teaser announcement:

Lego is kicking off Transformers dominance in Lego the right way: with the Autobots at the helm. If this product flies off the shelf (which is likely to happen), I’d love to see more brick-treated Transformers. Megatron will likely be the second episode, and what happens next is anyone’s guess. Grimlock, Bumblebee, Soundwave, and Starscream are a handful of characters that probably won’t be far off.

I guess Lego’s clever minds have figured out how to use all the pieces in the box for two transformations: robot and vehicle form. Several Lego sets have existed that use the same pieces for three different builds (that is, we can get some sets that change three times!)

What do you think about Transformers moving from Kre-O brick building to Lego? What characters or action sets would you like to see next?

I am an avid Lego collector and builder. The only thing that would scare me about this series is if it was based on the Transformers movies. I hope Lego fits in with the Generation 1 design, which debuted in 1980s period cartoons.
