Oppo Watch 3 with latest Snapdragon chipset has a release date


Oppo is expected to expand its wearables portfolio with the addition of the new Oppo Watch. Chinese smartphone maker is likely to announce Oppo Watch 3 upcoming, rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest smartwatch chipset. According to a report by Notebookcheck, Oppo could be the first company to bring a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 powered smartwatch hit the market. The Oppo Watch 3 is expected to launch on August 10, and images of the upcoming smartwatch have leaked online. The renders reveal that the company has renewed the design of the flagship smartwatch from its predecessor Oppo Watch 2. Furthermore, the report also suggests that the Oppo Watch 3 may come in two versions.
Availability of Oppo Watch 3
The report cannot confirm whether the upcoming smartwatch Oppo Watch 3 will be released in markets outside of China. The original Oppo Watch is now available globally but it took the company some time before it started offering smartwatches outside of the domestic market. Meanwhile, the Oppo Watch 2 remains a China-only product as the company continues to sell its first Snapdragon Wear 3100-powered Oppo Watch globally. The report also suggests that the company may not share any details about the upcoming global launch of the smartwatch while releasing it in China.

Oppo Watch 3 expected design and specifications
According to the report, images allegedly of the Oppo Watch 3 have been shared on Weibo, showing two versions of the upcoming smartwatch with different designs. The report also suggests that one of the versions will be the base model while the other is expected to be the Pro variant. The images have revealed that one model has a digital crown and elongated display while, the other variant resembles Apple Watch without its signature digital crown, the report claims
Qualcomm recently unveiled two flagship smartwatch chipsets and Snapdragon W5 Generation 1 is one of them. According to the report, the Oppo Watch 3 is expected to be powered by the 4 nm node-based Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset and promise to deliver superior performance and improved battery life compared to the Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Wear platforms. 4100+ . The report also mentions that Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 shares CPU core with its predecessor, but the button change is expected to give it an edge over its predecessor. Furthermore, the latest chipset also uses a GPU compared to Snapdragon Wear 4100.

The Oppo Watch 3 is likely to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro as they are expected to be released around the same time. The South Korea-based tech giant has also scheduled the Galaxy Unpacked launch event for the same day.
