He said that once #MeToo “exploded” in 2017, Mr Weinstein became “the smoldering radioactive core of a nuclear crisis”.
“He is the Chernobyl of Hollywood,” Mr. Werksman said.
Dozens of witnesses are expected to appear in court.
During the trial, about 80 witnesses are expected to stand, including at least four women accused of sexual assault in Los Angeles County as the basis for charges against Weinstein.
Lauren Young, a model and actress, revealed through her attorney that she is also among Jane Does.
