New Delhi:
Mumbai today reported 20 new cases of measles, while a one-year-old girl died from the virus, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. As of January 1 this year, Mumbai has reported 220 cases of measles.
The number of deaths from measles since the beginning of the year has reached 10 cases.
“Due to the measles outbreak in Mumbai, all residents are urged to vaccinate children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years old,” the civil service said.
As a precaution, 120 beds at SevenHills Hospital in Andheri have been reserved for measles patients. This includes 100 oxygen beds, 10 ventilators, and 10 beds in the intensive care unit (ICU).
For the past two years, the hospital has operated as a dedicated Covid-19 hospital.
