One of the best Xbox Game Pass games coming to the end of the month
Eight games will leave Xbox’s subscription service on December 31, including one of the best games released in the past decade.
The first-person sci-fi adventure Outer Wilds was among the names dropped from Xbox Game Cards. It won many awards when it launched in 2019 and in 2022 it is released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for next generation gamers.
Luckily, you still have two weeks to play fast before Outer Wilds and seven others pull from service (opens in a new tab)clearing the way for two Persona games and Monster Hunter Rises to come in the new year.
Outside with the old
Outer Wilds is a time loop story set in a galaxy full of mysteries. At the start of the game, you only have 22 minutes to explore the solar system on your homemade spaceship before the sun becomes a supernova, wiping out every planet in the sky. However, instead of getting caught up in the dust of space, time will reverse and you are free to start your exploration again.
To unravel the mysteries of the Outer Wilds, you must make good use of your 22 minutes, but your reward is a unique sci-fi game. The dense open-world format and lively soundtrack create a lavish backdrop for your explorations, so it’s no wonder that Outer Wilds took home three BAFTAs in 2020 for Best Game, IP Best and Best Game Design.
If space mysteries aren’t to your taste, check out Secret Neighbors for seasonal multiplayer stealth offerings. Set in the world of Hello Neighbor, this puzzle game pits you against cranky neighbor Mr Peterson as you work as a team to rescue one of your friends from a shady basement; However, it’s worth noting that one of you is actually the bad guy. Think between us, only scarier.

- Bright red Nexus

- Outer wilderness
- gorogoa
- Walker
- hug
