ONE: Geje Eustaquio absorbs first round KO
MANILA, Philippines—Geje Eustaquio’s return to world championship status in the ONE Championship made a big splash on Saturday.
Eustaquio, the former flyweight champion of Team Lakay, was knocked out by China’s Hu Yong in the first round at ONE 164 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“I made a promise to myself that I would become a world champion,” Yong said through an interpreter.
“My goal was to beat him in the first round and I got him.”
Suffering a cut near his eye, 33-year-old Eustaquio was knocked out after delivering a punch to the chin that ended the match.
Eustaquio won the flyweight belt in June 2018 after beating Adriano Moraes.
But he lost it seven months later in a rematch against Moraes.
