Families and 9/11 survivors have criticized former President Donald Trump for hosting an upcoming Saudi-sponsored LIV golf tournament at the National Golf Club. Trump in Bedminster, NJ

The 9/11 Justice Team, in a letter dated Sunday, expressed “deep pain and anger” at Trump’s decision to host the tournament. The letter also points to several moments where the former president blamed Saudi Arabia for the attacks that killed 2,977 people in 2001.

“It is incomprehensible to us Mr. Trump, a former president of the United States, to cast aside our loved ones for personal financial gain,” the group wrote.

A receptionist at Trump National in Bedminster declined to comment on the 9/11 Justice letter. LIV did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Bedminster Field will host a LIV tournament from July 29-31. Trump’s Miami stadium is scheduled to host a LIV championship tournament in late October.
