Families and 9/11 survivors have criticized former President Donald Trump for hosting an upcoming Saudi-sponsored LIV golf tournament at the National Golf Club. Trump in Bedminster, NJ
The 9/11 Justice Team, in a letter dated Sunday, expressed “deep pain and anger” at Trump’s decision to host the tournament. The letter also points to several moments where the former president blamed Saudi Arabia for the attacks that killed 2,977 people in 2001.
“It is incomprehensible to us Mr. Trump, a former president of the United States, to cast aside our loved ones for personal financial gain,” the group wrote.
Fifteen of the 19 September 11 attackers were Saudi nationals, and terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden was born in the country. The Government of Saudi Arabia has Constantly being rejected that it was involved in the attacks.
A receptionist at Trump National in Bedminster declined to comment on the 9/11 Justice letter. LIV did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Trump himself tore the PGA Tour in a post on his social network, Truth Social, on Monday, but didn’t mention anything about the 9/11 families’ reactions. Bedminster Field will host a LIV tournament from July 29-31. Trump’s Miami stadium is scheduled to host a LIV championship tournament in late October.
The LIV League has made waves in the worlds of sports and geopolitics, as big names like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau signed on for huge salaries.

The LIV Tournament is not the first Saudi deal involving Trump. According to The New York TimesHis son-in-law and former White House adviser, Jared Kushner, secured a $2 billion investment from a Saudi sovereign wealth fund for his private equity firm.
On September 11, Justice had previously protested the LIV tournament held at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Oregon. More tournaments in other states are scheduled for the fall in Boston, Chicago, culminating in a team championship held at Trump’s Doral Course in Miami.
The letter to Trump came after otherwise it was sent to President Joe Biden on the eve of his trip to Saudi Arabia, demanding that the president hold the Saudi government accountable for the attacks.
Biden was criticized for his perceived insensitivity to these tensions with the Saudi government. The President met the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia with a handshake between the voices of support from the families and victims of 9/11 and supporters of murdered journalist Jamal KhashoggI.
