On Camera, Elderly Woman’s Hands Tied, Thrashed In Madhya Pradesh

An elderly woman was tied with ropes and beaten by a group of people while throwing class remarks at her in a village in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh.

Video of the incident has been widely shared on social media.

A man and two women were named in the first informational report, or FIR, filed under the Scheduled Tribals and Tribes (Atrocities Prevention) Act. severe punishment for the ill treatment of the tribes.

In her complaint to police, the woman said some people in her neighborhood got into fights with her for no reason and even insulted her with racist comments.

She lives alone in her house in Hirapur village. Her son is a laborer in Indore.

The woman said her neighbor, Ganesh, came to her home after drinking and starting abusing the caste system on Friday. When she stopped him, his wife and mother also went there and dragged her outside, according to the police complaint.

The woman said Ganesh had yelled at her many times before. She said that he doesn’t want her to live alone in the village because she belongs to the Scheduled Caste community.

“The three of them dragged me out, tied my hands behind my back, and beat me.

A video of the incident shows the elderly woman being given water from a metal cup while her hands are still tied behind her back.

Police Manish Khatri said they have filed a case and are investigating the incident. The police watched the video.
