Via Jake Tiernan: Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk continued with his call for WBC belt holder Tyson Fury on Twitter, posing in front of an oversized hamburger he was about to eat, telling ‘The Gypsy King’ ,’ “You are next.“
Unless Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) can change the way he’s been fighting lately, he could end up spending a long night against slick rival Usyk (20- 0.13 KO), who is a lot faster. his feet, sport & better condition.
Fury needs to drop the weight from the 270s down to the 250s to have the mobility and cardio needed to fight the much more agile Usyk, as he’ll be using a lot of movement.
As for Fury, it would be a mistake to use the same simple fighting style we’ve seen from him over the past three years, in which he lands a hit and then dives to parry. From there, Fury relies on his large-bodied opponents to tire them out.
That approach won’t work for Usyk as he won’t allow Fury to grab and lean on like the three heavyweights he’s been fighting since 2020.
